Equity for students.

We believe that every student deserves a great teacher. Students from low-income families are two to three times more likely to have an ineffective teacher, so we focus on policy solutions that promise to attract and retain great teachers in high-poverty schools.

Professional excellence.

If we hope to create a profession that is desirable for the best and brightest college graduates to enter, we must uphold excellent standards of professionalism. This means working responsibly with elected officials and community partners to create positive solutions.

Educator-driven policy solutions.

"Lasting education reforms will not happen without teachers behind them," our board president, Tacoma teacher Nathan Gibbs-Bowling, says. He's right. Unless reforms come from successful schools and districts and are supported and driven by teachers, the likelihood of successful implementation is low.
