As educators from across the Puget Sound, we stand against the current administration’s targeting of immigrants, LGBTQIA, people of color, students with exceptionalities, and students from diverse backgrounds. We are committed to actions and policies that strengthen our community and ensure our students’ privacy and rights are upheld to the fullest extent of the law. Our classroom spaces are sacred places for learning.
To this end,
We stand together knowing that #BlackLivesMatter.
We stand together advocating that immigrants and refugees, of all statuses, have rights and those rights are human rights.
We stand together proclaiming that no human is illegal.
We stand together ready to uphold the laws and protections provided to all students with exceptionalities.
We stand together declaring that we support our LGBTQIA students and teachers.
We stand together professing that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
We will intentionally collaborate with education staff, students, families, and organizations across the country in order to promote inclusive and welcoming policies within our schools and communities.
